Tips to Make Habits Stick
Determine WHO you want to be this year. Write it down! Once you know who you want to be, ask yourself – “What does that person do?” Likely there are some habits you need to start or stop doing to become the person you want to be.
Three tips to make successful habit changes:
Start small
When you have success right away, your brain starts to identify you as being the person who does what you are trying to do. It will continue to encourage you to keep the habit. If you want to be healthier start with 1 extra vegetable a day, drink an extra glass of water, or don’t eat after dinner. Every time you are successful, it reinforces that you are a healthy person!
Schedule it
Increase your chances of success to 91% if you will decide, when, what, and where you will do what you are trying to do. Then all you have to do is SHOW UP! It can be a great tactic for workouts. Schedule them for the week and commit to them!
Stick with it
Often we don’t see the effect of our small changes. Over time if we stick with them, they make a big impact! If you get 1% better everyday, you are 37 times better by the end of the year!
