Bring More Fun into your Summer

Do you remember the last time you truly had fun? As we juggle work, family, and daily responsibilities, it’s easy to forget to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. This summer, let’s change that!

Here are five easy and affordable ways to add fun back into your life:

Set a New Goal

What’s something you’ve always wanted to do but never took the plunge? Maybe it’s running a marathon, hiking a 14er or the Incline, or any other personal challenge. The key is to commit—put some skin in the game. Sign up, pay the fee, and set a consequence for not following through. What have you always dreamed about?

Try a New Restaurant

You don’t need to splurge to have a culinary adventure. Pick a restaurant you’ve driven by but never tried or experiment with a new type of cuisine. Exploring new flavors can be a fun and unexpected treat!

Go to a New Store

Last weekend, I explored some high-end consignment stores with a friend and found a pair of designer jeans I love for a fraction of the cost. It was an afternoon of fun and discovery. What stores have you always wanted to visit but never made the time for?

Explore Learning Something New

Whether through a class, YouTube, or a library book, diving into a new subject can be incredibly rewarding. This year, I’ve been learning meditation and how to grow an herb garden—both have been gratifying experiences. What are you curious about?

Volunteer and Serve

Helping others often leaves you feeling like you’re the one who was helped. Recently, my daughter and I volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, cooking and serving dinner (see picture below). It was a heartwarming experience and a great way to bond and create lasting memories. Find a cause you’re passionate about and get involved!

Remember to Schedule Fun

Life can be busy, but scheduling fun activities is essential. I used to feel guilty about taking time off, but I learned the importance of having a “Sabbath” day, free from work. Start small—maybe just two hours on a weekend—and gradually increase it. Use this time to enjoy life, family, and friends without guilt. You were created for it!

This summer, I challenge you to try one (or all!) of these activities. See how they can bring joy and excitement back into your days. Let’s make the most of this beautiful season! Enjoy every moment!
