Being Uniquely You
Have you ever felt a nudge—a calling you try to ignore, but it just won’t go away?
After COVID, I felt a strong urge to keep running our studios but also to do more. Deep down, I’d always dreamed of becoming a speaker, but as soon as I thought about it, a voice crept in: “What would you speak on? No one will listen. You’ve never done that before. You don’t have the time.” Sound familiar? Around that same time, my business coach told me, “If you don’t show up as uniquely you, the world will miss you.” That’s true for everyone! We each have special gifts, but it’s easy to let that inner voice keep us from sharing them.
I believe God gave us all unique talents, and while using them can be scary, it can also be incredibly rewarding. It doesn’t guarantee that everyone will understand or that we won’t face criticism. But it means we might make a difference for someone else—and that’s worth it. That realization has made me braver, pushing me to step onto stages, create content, launch a podcast, and write this newsletter. This isn’t just about my journey; I hope these lessons inspire you to embrace and show up as uniquely you.
Here’s what I’ve learned along the way:
Silence the Negative Voice.
I had to choose to stop listening to that inner critic and recognize that not everything it says is true.
It Won’t Always Be Easy.
There are days when I don’t feel like recording an episode, reaching out to guests, or showing up on social media—but I do it anyway.
Let Go of Ego and Outcome.
Being new at something is hard! I wanted my first podcast to be perfect, but things went wrong—my “Do Not Disturb” failed, and my phone kept buzzing. I did it anyway, even if only my mom was listening. And now, Be the Person ranks in the top 5% of podcasts globally. I didn’t get caught up in numbers; I just followed my heart.
Dream Big Dreams.
I’ve always been a dreamer with a long list of goals. Each time I accomplish one, I’m eager to start another. Dreaming keeps possibility alive.
Embrace the Fear.
Many of my dreams scare me, and I’ve learned that I must pursue them while feeling that fear. They won’t look perfect, but that’s okay. The adventure is in the journey. Don’t let your dreams die within you—live them out!
So, what unique gifts and talents do you have, and how are you using them? Do any of my lessons resonate with you? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Go be an amazing version of YOU!
