Lessons from 2020
As we look back on 2020, I have been reflecting on lessons learned…there have been a lot as we face problems we didn’t know existed before!
I want to take these and learn from them to help me become the person I want to be going forward. 2020 was a very challenging year. We closed our Orangetheory studios completely for 3 months. The remainder of the year, members had to wear masks to workout. Many people were frustrated. There were all levels of agreement with policies. Some people full agreed with them while others fully disagreed. It was a hard year to lead. There are always lessons out of hard times. Here are mine. I learned in 2020:
- I am stronger and weaker than I thought.
- I am not in control, no matter how much I want to be, but follow a God that is.
- How you treat people in hard times is what they will remember.
- Put marbles (positive affirmations) in people jar, but don’t be afraid to take out a few when they need correcting and it will help them. (Brene Brown thought in Anne Randall words).
- Asking for help is ok and needed.
- Create memories instead of buying things
- Quiet time, reading and reflecting, and sleep are just as important as working out and going.
- It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful (My puppy Ruby with hip dysplasia is the perfect example!)
- To lead well you must be authentic and vulnerable
- Love is shown through patience
- It is ok to be sad for a season. Be where your feet are and feel the feelings in your heart.
- Make a lifetime full of memories with people you care about.
